12 & Under Rules

All play is governed by the Rules of Golf as they appear in the most recent edition of the USGA Rules of Golf.  The local rules for the course are on the back of the hole location (pin) sheet.

TEE-TIMES: Will be 7:30am shotgun start both days.. Second day pairings are based on scores.

TIME OF STARTING: All competitors must be present and ready to play at the assigned tee time. If a player arrives at his/her starting point, ready to play, within five minutes after his/her starting time, the penalty for failing to start on time is two strokes at the first hole. If it is past five minutes, the player will be assessed a score of 9 on the first hole, and will not start actual play until next hole. If a player arrives after his group has teed off the second hole, he will be disqualified.

FAIRWAYS AND PARENTS/SPECTATORS: Parents/spectators may not walk onto the fairway of any hole during the play of any hole, except at the putting green where they may observe from a distance of 10 yards off the green (they may NOT go onto the putting surface). First Offense: Warning; Second Offense: Removal from course (may stay in clubhouse)

SCORING: The player is the only official marker during tournament play.  Groups will be assigned an additional marker if there is the appearance of improper scoring.

CONDUCT: Unbecoming behavior by a player or caddie (including breaking of clubs in anger) or use of abusive or profane language will not be tolerated and the player or caddy will be disqualified immediately from competition.  Any player or caddy disqualified because of conduct must leave the course.

ATTIRE:  Shirts must have collars; cutoffs, short shorts, and jeans are not permitted. Player will not be allowed to play until attire conforms to guidelines.

MEASURING DEVICES: GPS (Global Positioning System) or other measuring devices are NOT allowed. First Offense: 2 stroke penalty; Second Offense: Disqualification.

STROKE LIMIT: 9-stroke limit.

PACE OF PLAY: A player will have 45 seconds to play his next stroke after he has identified the ball and it is his turn to play.  If the carts are restricted to “cart path only” due to weather, the caddies will need to keep up the pace of play. First Offense:  Warning; Second Offense: 1 stroke penalty; Third Offense: 2 stroke penalty; Fourth Offense in the same stipulated round: Disqualification.  Rule 6-7

TRANSPORTING PLAYERS: In order to help with pace of play, all players may be transported on caddy or spectator carts between holes and during the play of all par 3’s.  If a ball is lost or out-of-bounds and no provisional ball was hit, the player may be transported back to his original ball's location and returned to where the new ball in play is hit in order to help with pace of play. If a competitor rides a cart at any other time during the stipulated round, other than the exceptions mentioned above: First Offense: 2 stroke penalty; Second Offense: Disqualification.

RULES OFFICIALS: There will be a Rules Official on the course and she will be identified by a cart marked with RULES OFFICIAL.  Do not ask volunteers for rulings. They are not authorized to make rulings or give advice. If you have a rules issue and a rules official is not available - Rule 3-3 describes the proper procedure. “In stroke play, if a competitor is doubtful of his rights or the correct procedure during the play of a hole he may, without penalty, complete the hole with two balls. After the doubtful situation has arisen and before taking further action, the competitor must announce to his marker of a fellow-competitor that he intends to play two balls and which ball he wishes to count if the Rules permit. If he fails to do so, the provisions of Rule 3-3b(ii) apply. The competitor must report the facts of the situation to the Committee before returning his scorecard. If he fails to do so, he is disqualified.”

CARTS/CADDIES: A caddy may ride in a cart and carry his player’s clubs on the cart. Two caddies for two separate players may share a cart.  However, ONLY caddies may ride in the cart except during designated times as listed above.  Players and other spectators cannot ride in the same cart as the caddie.  Doing so constitutes having more than one caddy which is a violation of Rule 6-4.  Spectators who wish to ride in a cart will need to rent a separate cart for their use. “The player may be assisted by a caddie, but he is limited to only one caddie at any one time.  Two strokes for each hole at which any breach occurred; maximum penalty per round --Four strokes.  A player having more than one caddie in breach of this Rule must immediately upon the discovery that a breach has occurred ensure that he has no more than one caddie at any one time during the remainder of the stipulated round. Otherwise, the player is disqualified.” Rule 6-4

BAD WEATHER: In case of bad weather, a horn/siren will sound to suspend play.  When the horn sounds, you must discontinue play immediately (do not attempt to finish the hole), mark your ball, and immediately return to clubhouse.

DRINKS: The course water coolers are available for players and spectators. Concessions will also be open.

REMEMBER! Players are responsible for all actions of their caddies. Caddies must be identified by wearing an official TJM caddie bib.
